Future Computational Biologists is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring the next generation of computational biologists by making computational biology accessible and engaging through workshops and outreach. Over 50% of parents in East Brunswick agree that there is a lack of opportunities for their children to explore the intersection of technology and the life sciences*. FCB’s mission is to bridge that gap through workshops and outreach that empower students across all ages.

Teaching CS-inclined students about the technologies and opportunities in computational biology. Bioinformatics coding challenges to help reinforce key concepts through hands-on learning

Constructed a powerful interactive evolutionary tree demo that could be accessed through a QR code. By creating animals with various traits, students could visually see how computational phylogeny uses algorithms like nearest-neighbor to create evolutionary trees.
